{"id":165295,"date":"2015-11-09T13:00:33","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T13:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=165295"},"modified":"2015-11-09T12:14:57","modified_gmt":"2015-11-09T12:14:57","slug":"top-mmdas-lag-behind-in-cdd-ranking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=165295","title":{"rendered":"Top MMDAs lag behind in CDD ranking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Top Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the country did not perform well in the year 2014, a report released by the Centre for Democratic Governance (CDD) has shown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report dubbed District League Table (DLT) is a simple ranking tool which assessed the progress of the MMDAs in the areas of education, sanitation, rural water, health, security and governance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The ultimate objective of the District League Table is to increase social accountability in Ghana that will lead to improving development for the country\u2019s population,&#8221; the report added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In all, the Tano South District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region topped the list with a total score of 76 while the Karaga District Assembly in the Northern Region ranked last with a paltry 15 score.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the report, 95 MMDAs out of 216 scored below the average score of 58%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Out of the 6 metropolitan assemblies in the country, only one, Tema Metropolitan Assembly, made it into the first 20 ranking.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Accra Metropolitan Assembly &#8211; 67<\/li>\n<li>Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly &#8211; 53<\/li>\n<li>Tema Metropolitan Assembly &#8211; 69<\/li>\n<li>Tamale Metropolitan Assembly &#8211; 65<\/li>\n<li>Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly &#8211; 53<\/li>\n<li>Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan &#8211; 56<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eight (8) districts in the Ashanti Region made it into the first 20 list.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Districts in the Volta and Northern Regions together had 12 of the bottom 20 districts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/District-League-Table-report-Edit-NEW-R3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Click here for full District League Table report<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
