{"id":164417,"date":"2015-11-04T08:06:58","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T08:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=164417"},"modified":"2015-11-04T08:23:38","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T08:23:38","slug":"npp-has-not-been-served-any-writ-karbo-insists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=164417","title":{"rendered":"NPP has not been served any writ &#8211; Karbo insists\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo has disclosed that the party has not received any writ barring it from holding National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NPP recently suspended its National Chairman, Paul Afoko and appointed Freddie Blay as acting Chairman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;8UWGkYRk4nx96iUVgT1jfr8ERkczGqjB&#8221;]Three members of the party subsequently <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/10\/27\/three-sue-npp-leadership-over-afokos-suspension\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\">s<strong>ued the NPP<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with the hope of getting the court to declare as unconstitutional Freddie Blay&#8217;s appointment and meeting by the NEC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But Karbo in an interview on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> insisted that the party had not received any court summons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAs far as I know, the party hasn\u2019t received any injunction whatsoever from whichever source. As far as I know the NEC meeting was successful, no injunction was served at the meeting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Our supporters across the country are very upbeat and they are prepared for a leadership that will give us some direction so we can begin to execute the campaign to capture victory in 2016,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Karbo further insisted that the NPP is not ready to undermine the court system of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cDon\u2019t forget that we have very competent lawyers in NPP and I think we are the very last people that will undermine the courts. We are strong believers in the rule of law and democratic governance and will not undermine the law courts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He indicated that the party will respond appropriately if it receives any writ from the court.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee (NEC), is asking its <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/11\/03\/accept-afokos-suspension-npp-nec-to-members\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>members to support<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>its decision to suspend Afoko.<\/p>\n<p>The NEC and the National Council held separate meetings on Tuesday to among other things; affirm their support for NPP\u2019s acting chairman, Freddie Blay.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akomea, Director of Communications of the NPP addressing the media said\u00a0\u201cthe meeting also admonished all party supporters across the country to stick and uphold the decisions of the party&#8221;, adding that &#8220;the party will do what is best for everybody&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Jeffrey Owuraku Sarpong\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo has disclosed that the party has not received any writ barring it from holding National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.
