Some market women in the Ketu South Municipality have demonstrated against the disqualification of some aspirants in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress(NDC).<\/p>\n
Friday\u2019s demonstration, the second in a week, saw the market women throng the principal streets in the municipality to express their displeasure.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”awf9TXi3Lm5v7v08uE0BRgu5uscsxaA9″]The market women believe\u00a0the disqualification of Jim Morti and Albert Zigah is a deliberate attempt by party executives to impose the incumbent Member of Parliament, Fifi Fiavi Kwertey on them.<\/p>\n
They further accused the incumbent MP\u00a0and his cohorts of\u00a0seeking to\u00a0disarm his\u00a0main contender, Jim Morti.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand that they disqualified two people. They said the first person went independent; that it is well known to us. But the reason for disqualifying Jim Yao Morti is not known to us. It seems like there is something going on or somebody is pushing them to do this. But if the NDC is not careful, they would lose this seat in 2016\u201d Sefakor Mensah, one of the protestors said.<\/p>\n
The women were clad in red and black attire holding placards with inscriptions; \u201cDo not impose incompetent Fifi Kwertey on us,\u201d \u201cno elimination by rough tactics\u201d among others.<\/p>\n
They insist they will organize series of protests until the leadership of the NDC party rescinds its decision and include Jim Morti in the race.<\/p>\n
The parliamentary primaries is scheduled to take place on November 7 in all constituencies across the country.<\/p>\n
