The Bongo Police command in the Upper East Region, \u00a0have mounted a search for a woman who dumped her one-day-old baby girl in a bush near Ananfomisi clinic in Bongo.<\/p>\n
The baby was wrapped in a polythene bag and dumped in the bush in\u00a0the early hours of Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The baby, whose mother is yet to be identified, sustained some bruises and was rushed to the Bongo District Hospital where she is currently responding to treatment.<\/p>\n
But management of the hospital told Citi News<\/strong> the baby will be referred in due course to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICO) at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for urgent medical attention.<\/p>\n Meanwhile the Bongo District Police Commander ASP Paul Archibaed Ankan, told Citi News<\/strong> he has\u00a0 dispatched enough men to investigate the matter and arrest of the perpetrator.<\/p>\n “This morning [Wednesday], an information was given to us by the in-charge of the Ananfomisi clinic Hajia Mary Issaka, that a certain lady has drowned a day-old baby girl behind\u00a0 Ananfomisi clinic, so I dispatched Police\u00a0 men to the scene and indeed it was true. The baby was concealed in a polythene bag\u00a0and drowned away but fortunately the baby was not dead; so she was taken to the Bongo hospital for treatment.
