{"id":162471,"date":"2015-10-26T17:35:50","date_gmt":"2015-10-26T17:35:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=162471"},"modified":"2015-10-26T18:00:41","modified_gmt":"2015-10-26T18:00:41","slug":"rawlings-and-others-honoured-at-2015-pan-african-leadership-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=162471","title":{"rendered":"Rawlings and\u00a0others honoured at 2015 Pan African Leadership Summit\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\u00a0Former President John Jerry Rawlings, was among nine personalities awarded at the Pan African Leadership Summit and Merit Awards (PAMA) 2015 at the British Council Auditorium in Accra over the weekend.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Rawlings \u00a0who could not attend the function to receive his award, \u00a0was recognized as \u201cAfrica\u2019s Foremost Agent of Change.\u201dThree of the personalities, one Nigerian and two Ghanaians \u00a0who were present, also received their awards.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Dr (Sir) Ferdinand Ikechukwu Anikwe, Director-General of the Centre for Black Arts and African Civilization Culture (CBAAC), was adjudged \u201cAfrica\u2019s Most Outstanding Personality in Arts and Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Superintendent Cephas Arthur, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, received the \u201cExcellence in Outstanding Leadership\u201d \u00a0award, while Victoria Michaels, a model and fashion icon, grabbed \u201cGhana\u2019s Fashion Modelling \u00a0Personality \u00a0of the Year\u201d award.<\/p>\n<p>The PAMA was instituted by the National informer Magazine, to bring together past and present African Leaders, policy makers, giants of industries, top CEOs, outstanding inspirational religious leaders, foreign investors and others, to share ideas, strategies, and create platforms that will instigate the socio-economic development and revival of the continent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>It also honours outstanding Africans, organizations and institutions, in various fields of human endeavour, that have contributed immensely to the growth of Africa and Africans.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Apart from of the nine personalities, 12 organizations were also recognized for awards.<\/p>\n<p>Four of them were present to receive their awards.<\/p>\n<p>They were Union Savings and Loans Ghana Limited (Ghana\u2019s Most Outstanding SME Development Bank);<br \/>\nOpportunity International Savings and Loans Ghana Limited (Ghana\u2019s Most innovative SME Financial Institution); Goldman Capital Micro Finance Ghana Limited (Ghana\u2019s Most Efficient Micro Finance Institution of the Year); and Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (Financial Regulator of the Year).<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the function, Prince Ike Onwuka-Smarty, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the National Informer, underscored the need for Africa \u00a0to fashion its own economic models to sustain growth on the continent.<\/p>\n<p>Prince Onwuka-Smarty was of the view that the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises would be the foundation of Africa\u2019s economic stability, if properly guided and harnessed.<\/p>\n<p>In a presentation on \u201cRe-thinking Cultural Pan-Africanism for Africa\u2019s Reconstruction \u00a0and Development, \u201dDr Anikwe, Director-General \u00a0of the Centre for Black Arts and African Civilization, and an award winner, \u00a0pointed out that the future of Africa lies in the hands of Africans.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Anikwe said as key to development, Culture must acknowledge the virtues of cultural diversity and respect for individual human rights, and the promotion of sustainable \u00a0environmental \u00a0management practices.<\/p>\n<p>He was of the view that with Africans first and foremost developing \u00a0their various cultures, all other aspects of development would be added unto the continent.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<br \/>\nSource: GNA<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Former President John Jerry Rawlings, was among nine personalities awarded at the Pan African Leadership Summit and Merit Awards (PAMA) 2015 at the British Council Auditorium in Accra over the weekend.
