The food inflation rose to 7.8% compared to the 7.7% recorded for August, where as non food inflation recorded 23.2% which was three times the food inflation of 7.8%.<\/p>\n
The consumer price index measures the change over time in the general price levels of goods and services that households require for the purpose of consumption.<\/p>\n
The Chief Executive of the Ghana Statistical Service Dr. Philomena Nyarko told Citi Business News she expects a continues rise in inflation as 2015 comes to end.<\/p>\n
The main price drivers for the non-food inflation rate were recreation and culture (29.0%), education (29.6%), transport (23.8%), clothing and footwear (24.9%), furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance (24.9%) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (23.4%).<\/p>\n
Four regions (Upper West, Ashanti, Greater Accra and Central) recorded inflation rates higher than the national average of 17.4%. Brong Ahafo Region recorded the same inflation rate as the national average of 17.4 percent.<\/p>\n
