Hammond, says the immediate past Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Stephen Adei, may have to face Parliament\u2019s Privileges Committee to defend his claims that MPs demand bribes before approving projects and policies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vociferous MP in an apparent angry tone, made this known in an interview on Citi FM\u2019s <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;CWVkL09Vfo9QCLW79xZ1UZTROofNPt9q&#8221;]His comment is a response to Professor Adei\u2019s outburst at the 40th anniversary of the SAPS School in Accra over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The straightforward professor alleged that some MPs use their roles on the parliamentary select committees not only to demand <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/10\/11\/our-corrupt-mps-even-take-bribes-for-their-girlfriends-prof-adei\/\" target=\"_blank\">bribes for themselves but for their girlfriends<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Professor Adei also alleged that \u201cat least 8 in 10 politicians in Ghana are glorified thieves although almost every need of theirs is met by the state; we have to stop it\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Commenting on the assertions, K.T. Hammond said it was irresponsible for the respected academician to make such \u201cscandalous comments based on hearsay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Without further details, he stated that the professor may have to meet them in Parliament to explain himself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt\u2019s not only frustrating\u2026.It\u2019s pretty annoying, more so coming from a person of his stature and he also happens to be my constituent. I don\u2019t expect people who have no understanding of the system to be making comments of this nature; it\u2019s scandalous. To say that eight out of 10 MPs are thieves is unacceptable.
