{"id":158373,"date":"2015-10-09T08:06:00","date_gmt":"2015-10-09T08:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=158373"},"modified":"2015-10-09T08:06:44","modified_gmt":"2015-10-09T08:06:44","slug":"gma-negotiations-not-stalled-govt-fwsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=158373","title":{"rendered":"GMA negotiations not stalled &#8211; Govt, FWSC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Employment Ministry and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) have both denied reports that negotiations with the Ghana Medical Association(GMA) for a codified condition of service have stalled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Members of the GMA and representatives of government agencies <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/24\/govt-gma-negotiations-resume\/\" target=\"_blank\">resumed talks<\/a><\/strong><\/span> following the suspension of the strike by the doctors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The doctors had embarked on a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/21\/doctors-call-off-striuke\/\" target=\"_blank\">month long strike<\/a><\/strong><\/span> over demands for codified terms of conditions of service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;G1e4izKcdFXTYOMoD3cP4fz3KYBr6nP5&#8243;]They called off the strike after the National Labour Commission ordered that all parties <strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/20\/resume-negotiations-now-nlc-tells-gma-govt\/\" target=\"_blank\">return to the negotiation table.<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There has however been recent media reports suggesting that the current discussions between the two parties had stalled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However addressing a news conference in Accra, the Employment Minister, Haruna Iddrisu discounted the claims, stating that the FWSC is expected to update the NLC on the status of negotiations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Haruna Iddrisu who would not explain into details however hinted that the government &#8220;will improve upon aspects of its position on the matter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For his part, Mr. Smith Graham was optimistic that problem will soon be addressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI can confirm that negotiations with the GMA are still ongoing, we are still engaging should be able to come out with some amicable solution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Pius Amihere Eduku\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Employment Ministry and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) have both denied reports that negotiations with the Ghana Medical Association(GMA) for a codified condition of service have stalled.
