{"id":158366,"date":"2015-10-08T21:39:30","date_gmt":"2015-10-08T21:39:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=158366"},"modified":"2015-10-08T21:39:30","modified_gmt":"2015-10-08T21:39:30","slug":"nurses-suspend-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=158366","title":{"rendered":"Nurses suspend strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Striking nurses at the various hospitals across the country have suspended their week-long strike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This includes psychiatric nurses and the coalition of unpaid nurses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Accra Psychiatric Hospital nurses who\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/10\/01\/accra-psychiatric-nurses-declare-indefinite-strike\/\">laid down their tools<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0last Thursday over unpaid salaries have given government a three-week ultimatum to address their challenges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;nctCHTiVCA6Sn5Jq8tNnawbJlg4Vd8xo&#8221;]The Controller and Accountant General\u2019s Department on Wednesday <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/10\/06\/govt-releases-over-gh%C2%A2-700000-for-psychiatric-nurses\/\" target=\"_blank\">released money<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for the payment of outstanding salary arrears for nurses in the three psychiatric hospitals in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A statement issued by the Ministry of Health stated that the Controller and Accountant General has released an amount of GH\u20b5756, 000 for the payment of the salaries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the spokesperson for the Accra psychiatric hospital nurses, Frederick Asare Donkor said even though their various hospitals have been directed to pay to them, the money from the ministry does not cover the full amount owed them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have received the document but we realized there were some discrepancies. What they issued is just 133 people and we are more than that.
