{"id":15806,"date":"2014-05-01T09:53:45","date_gmt":"2014-05-01T09:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=15806"},"modified":"2014-05-01T09:53:45","modified_gmt":"2014-05-01T09:53:45","slug":"audio-whats-the-future-of-chelseas-etoo-and-mikel-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=15806","title":{"rendered":"Audio: What&#8217;s the future of Chelsea&#8217;s Eto&#8217;o and Mikel now?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are two matches more to end the Barclays Premier League season, meaning Samuel Eto&#8217;o and John Mikel Obi may be earning their last Chelsea paychecks.<\/p>\n<p>Jose Mourinho has spoken, especially of the Cameroonian star, in the past few months about this moment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Mikel Obi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He is rumoured\u00a0by club as a result of a lack of first-team opportunities, with Italian side Inter Milan in line to bid more than \u00a312m for the 26-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and could make the move to Serie A for a regular starting spot.<\/p>\n<p>Obi has also been linked with a move to Galatasaray.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Samuel Eto&#8217;o<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In January, Jose Mourinho had said that the decorated African star may remain at the club next season, despite reports he could return to Spain when his contract expires in June.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;We have a very trustful relationship with him.\u00a0He&#8217;s the kind of guy that, with his career, he feels very free and very comfortable making decisions just for himself. He feels good, feels happy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;He wants to play for titles. He decided to come here to the Premier League to Chelsea, so Samuel is enjoying his career until the end.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll see what he wants to do at the end of the season. Maybe he wants to go to Mallorca, as he promised his son. Maybe he wants to stay with us, or go and finish his career at Inter (Milan).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;He doesn&#8217;t need titles, he doesn&#8217;t need money.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Now that the 32-year-old former Mallorca and Barcelona striker has been &#8211; together with the Blues &#8211; been kicked out of the Champions League in Wednesday&#8217;s semi, what gives?<\/p>\n<p><em>The Metro <\/em>had\u00a0quoted Mourinho at the time also as saying: &#8220;He\u2019s comfortable and we\u2019re comfortable. He feels very free and comfortable to make decisions. He feels good, happy. He decided to come here. He\u2019s enjoying his career. At the end of the season we\u2019ll see what he wants to do. Maybe he\u2019ll go to Mallorca, or stay with us or Inter Milan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite originally being signed on a one-year deal and being considered as a stopgap measure at the club, Mourinho\u2019s words appeared to indicate that Eto\u2019o had every chance of remaining on the books at Chelsea beyond the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mallorca<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, as reported\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www1.skysports.com\/football\/news\/11668\/9126399\/transfer-news-chelseas-samuel-etoo-reveals-sons-wish-for-him-to-return-to-mallorca\" target=\"_blank\">by Sky Sports<\/a>, Eto\u2019o explained his son\u2019s desire to return to the Balearic Islands: &#8220;My son has pressured me to finish (my career) there. My son is from Mallorca, I&#8217;ll always like Barca, but I prefer Mallorca.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He remains the all-time top scorer of the club and\u00a0would be welcomed back with open arms to the place where he truly made his name.<\/p>\n<p>Eto\u2019o has the status and profile, as well as the ability, to command major attention in any number of the world\u2019s leagues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>MLS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A move to Major League Soccer has been rumoured, too.
