The 14 judges who took the committee investigating allegations of judicial corruption to court are now taking turns to appear before the committee after an Accra High Court struck out their suit.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”slccMstBnV0MyFpDHnE9lXheuQHJp1HY”]The 14 were praying the court\u00a0to declare as illegal, the composition of the committee but their case was dismissed by \u00a0Justice Gertrude Torkonoo.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0her ruling Justice Torkonoo said the Judicial Council was only performing its administrative role by appointing the committee to look into the matter, an action she says \u201ccannot be illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Citi News’<\/strong>\u00a0Fred Djabanor who was at the court reported that the\u00a0committee has began sitting and the 14 judges who \u00a0challenged the locus of the committee are appearing before it.”<\/p>\n

He was however unable to tell the number of days the committee will hold its sittings.<\/p>\n

“We can’t\u00a0<\/span>tell the number of days the sittings will last for. We are told that some judges can spend as long as two hours facing the committee so we cannot tell.”<\/span><\/p>\n
