President John Dramani Mahama says judges who were implicated in the judicial corruption scandal should be subjected to a fair trial.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch persons should be subjected to what they, perhaps, denied others: a fair investigation and a fair trial. Sometimes the principles are to be re-learned the hard way, because justice should always be served,\u201d the President noted in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n

What we uncovered these days is that some people, judges, judicial officers and policemen, seemed be willing to transgress the principles of a fair justice, to their own interest.\u201d<\/p>\n
The President , who is currently at the United States to address the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, was however quick to remind Ghanaians not to lose faith in the judiciary despite the recent happenings in the service.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not something to make us lose our faith in the judicial system. On the contrary, the investigations that began these days prove beyond doubt that our justice system is intact and working, served by many people with integrity and determination.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must also understand that this is a problem of some people who may or may not be guilty: it\u2019s for the investigators and the judges to decide. However, this is not a problem of our judicial system as a whole,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in his latest investigative work\u00a0uncovered a bribery scandal involving some 34 judges and magistrates and over 80 employees of the judicial service, police, prisons and the AG’s department.<\/p>\n
Some of the implicated Judges have\u00a0 since filed several suits arguing that the investigative journalist failed to follow due process but the court on Tuesday dismissed those cases<\/a>\u00a0 ,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong>paving \u00a0way for the judicial investigative committee to continue its work. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
