{"id":15596,"date":"2014-04-30T07:11:15","date_gmt":"2014-04-30T07:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=15596"},"modified":"2014-04-30T07:11:15","modified_gmt":"2014-04-30T07:11:15","slug":"gunmen-storm-libyan-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=15596","title":{"rendered":"Gunmen storm Libyan parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"story_continues_1\">Gunmen have stormed Libya&#8217;s parliament, forcing MPs to abandon a vote on a new prime minister, officials say.<\/p>\n<p>Correspondents say lawmakers left the building after hearing gunshots.<\/p>\n<p>The attempted vote followed the resignation of Abdullah al-Thinni, who stepped down as prime minister earlier this month after he and his family were targeted by militiamen.<\/p>\n<p>Libya has been plagued by instability since armed groups toppled Muammar Gaddafi&#8217;s regime in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier reports that several people had been wounded in the attack on Tuesday are unconfirmed.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear who was behind the disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC&#8217;s Rana Jawad in Tripoli says Libya&#8217;s national congress has been stormed on dozens of occasions by gunmen over the past year and a half.<\/p>\n<p>Congress members were deadlocked over the latest appointment of a new PM when the latest attack broke out, our correspondent says.<\/p>\n<p>They had already held one round of voting and selected two out of seven candidates.<\/p>\n<p>But the second round of voting has been postponed.
