Three basic schools in the Upper Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region of \u00a0Ghana, have \u00a0benefited from a \u00a0free exercise books distribution project \u00a0by Dress a Kid Foundation, an online Charity group with the aim of\u00a0 supporting the less privileged.<\/p>\n

Dubbed \u2018Project 1,000\u201d, the donation saw \u00a0over 1,000 customized exercise books and other teaching and learning materials\u00a0 presented to about 500 pupils from the district .<\/p>\n

According to the Foundation, the gesture is to relief some of the burden on parents who are finding it difficult to get basic school materials for their wards in the new academic year.<\/p>\n

Beneficiary schools included \u00a0Kpeti Basic School, Kumankuma Anglican School \u00a0and the Brepaw Upper Presbyterian \u00a0School.<\/p>\n

As part of the project, the Foundation also donated some clothing and shoes to the children in the deprived\u00a0 farming \u00a0communities.<\/p>\n

Addressing a gathering of\u00a0 pupils, teachers and parents at Brepaw , the\u00a0 leader of \u00a0Dress a Kid Foundation, Mr \u00a0Attah-Effah Badu, said the project forms part of the group’s objectives to elicit smiles from the faces of children in deprived communities on quarterly basis.<\/p>\n

He revealed that about \u00a03,000 needy children in deprived communities and orphanages have\u00a0 so far benefited\u00a0 from the initiative since it was established some five years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur initial \u00a0aim was \u00a0to provide one of the major necessities of life ,clothes to a minimum of hundred\u00a0 children every quarter of the year, due \u00a0to our experiences at some \u00a0of the communities and schools we\u00a0 visit,\u00a0 we raise stationeries in addition to the clothes we donate,\u201d Mr Attah-Effah said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cTo us at Dress a Kid Foundation, we believe we can be a blessing unto others if we can share with them the little we have.\u00a0 We may not be able to do all but we know with our little contribution, we are\u00a0 \u00a0giving some children reasons to be happy,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

At Kumankuma, one of the communities\u00a0the team visited, the Assemblyman of\u00a0the area, Mr. Sam Martey, lauded the group for the gesture, and urged other benevolent organisations to do same.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are surprised to see this team of young individuals embark on a journey of over 150 kilometres just to donate to the children of this community. It is a poor farming community and this donation came at the right time,\u201d the Assemblyman who doubles\u00a0 as one of \u00a0the two teachers in the school said.<\/p>\n

Dress a Kid Foundation comprises young Facebook friends who have the passion to share.<\/p>\n

The team has solely, and in partnership\u00a0 with other groups\u00a0 embarked on several outreach programmes which includes \u00a0giving facelifts to\u00a0 deprived schools.<\/p>\n
