Private legal practitioner and lawyer for some\u00a0of the 22 judges who were implicated in the judicial corruption scandal, John Ndebugri, has warned that all the people who viewed Anas Aremeyaw Anas\u2019 video at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on Tuesday, are in contempt of court.<\/p>\n

An interlocutory injunction on the journalist to stop him from showing the video today was dropped but a fresh one was filed on the AICC.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”UDsP0CbHAXC3JdZdW9uHdDKsxro4jZwY”]More than one thousand people thronged the venue to view the screening as managers of the facility disregarded the injunction placed on them and allowed them in for the viewing.<\/p>\n

John Ndebugri opined that given the media coverage and attention that the case had received, the people who saw the video could not argue ignorance of the suit against the video premiere and as such, were in contempt of court.<\/p>\n

He suggested that the lawyer for Justice Dery should have mounted cameras, as Anas did to allegedly capture the judges, to the people who went in to see the video.<\/p>\n

“The showing of the video is in absolute contempt of the High Court of the republic of Ghana. If I were the lawyers for Justice Dery,I would’ve stationed an equally powerful camera like Anas’ to capture all the people who are going in to the AICC to view. They are all cupable, they are all in contempt of court including the minister and diplomats.”<\/p>\n

John Ndebugri criticized the AICC for allowing the video to be premiered given the pending injunction case.<\/p>\n

According to him, the decision of AICC to \u2018throw open its doors\u2019 to the public for the viewing was \u2018disrespectful to the judicial process\u2019<\/p>\n

“I was in court when under some pressure, lawyer for Justice Dery asked on good advise to withdraw his application for an interlocutory injunction against Tigereye PI from airing the video. But my information indicated that there was another application for injunction restraining\u00a0the AICC from airing\u00a0the video.My instructions are that that application has been duly served on the management of the AICC.”<\/p>\n

“The management of the AICC\u00a0who are aware that there is an application pending against the airing of this video and have gone ahead to open its doors and accept people to come and view the video is obviously disrespectful of\u00a0the court and the judicial process,” he stated<\/p>\n
