{"id":150670,"date":"2015-09-11T11:58:41","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T11:58:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=150670"},"modified":"2015-09-11T12:24:34","modified_gmt":"2015-09-11T12:24:34","slug":"i-sing-what-i-feel-i-dont-do-politics-sarkodie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=150670","title":{"rendered":"I sing what I feel; I don\u2019t do politics \u2013 Sarkodie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hiplife and hip-hop artiste, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/19\/stonebwoy-sarkodie-others-nominated-for-2015-bet-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sarkodie<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, who has succinctly captured some of Ghana&#8217;s biggest topics like the economy, corruption, among others, has downplayed suggestions that he &#8220;meddles&#8221; in politics through his songs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sarkodie, who started off with songs that generally centered on love, life and its hassles, has recently recorded a few songs which mirrored the economic challenges of Ghanaians, bad leadership and corruption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of the issues that have been highlighted in his rap lately include economic mismanagement, poverty, unemployment, the depreciation of the cedi, greed, amongst others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;OCtaCXRwwumXf9NJPdKTO4HUZgyRNZmi&#8221;]There have been mixed reactions to his new style with many of his fans lauding him for advocating change through music.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But those who disagree with him say\u00a0he is doing the bidding of the opposition party by making the incumbent government unpopular.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The one-time BET award winner in an exclusive interview on the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>\u00a0on Friday, said he merely composes such songs when he is hit by the happenings around.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI think it\u2019s been part of me ever since I started. If you listen to my mix tapes it\u2019s about where I am at that point. This is not political if you really listen to the songs and that\u2019s why people can relate. It\u2019s really bad and I don\u2019t even know whether I should be ashamed of it; if you ask me about certain ministers I don\u2019t know them. All I know is that when something happens and it hits me I will be moved to talk about it so it\u2019s actually not political; it\u2019s just me\u201d the rapper emphasized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In response to a question posed by the Host of the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>, Bernard Koku Avle, on how he easily pieces together such words that talks about critical issues, the rapper retorted; \u201cIts creativity; when you are in the mood it comes. When I think about the first line then I just say it and think about the next one. Most of my songs especially the real rap ones I do it bit by bit. If I think about it; it comes and I will say it and then I will wait for the next funny line. It takes maximum 30 minutes to compose such songs in the studio before the mastering.
