Mensah, one of Ghana’s longest-serving MPs, is infuriated by some comments made by the young man he once groomed to take over from him.

In what best looks like a ‘father and son’ contest, Sam George has appealed to the MP to retire honorably for the youth of the area to take over the mantle of leadership.

[contextly_sidebar id=”BKVA7xz5hYEDvTiqDLXiAf75nTefAc24″]He believes that the incumbent MP’s continuous stay in office could hamper the development of the area, insisting it was about time for him to bow out for someone like him with new ideas to take over and rebuild the constituency.

But in an interview with Joy News, the MP said Sam George cannot unseat him with his naive understanding of politics.

“Nobody should deceive himself because he cannot win Ningo Prampram without my support. This boy has been putting on Facebook and other places that I am not running even after I filed my nomination. Let him swim in his ignorance and naivety. Politics on the ground is not done in the media” he noted.

“God should have mercy upon this boy. A hand that has fed you before, if you want to bite it you have to be careful. A hand that has raised you to where you are and you feel that you can mess around. I am not sad for him but his parents; I didn’t know them from Adam. When his sister was going to be engaged by the husband in Nigeria, I supported them and I treated him like a son” the MP said in disappointment.

The former Youth and Sports Minister who is seeking a sixth term in parliament after over twenty years of service to the people of Ningo-Prampram, described Sam George as “power drunk”.

“Who is he for them to send him to come and say thank you to me? What has he ever done there? Before I became MP I was helping the people of Ningo Prampram. From 1993 to 1995, I did a lot of work for the people and that’s why the chiefs and the elders came to beg me to contest in 1996. I don’t want to glorify his naivety. He is someone who is naïve and power drunk and I don’t know what he wants to do and that’s why I am being charitable. Whatever he has been saying is a lie and I have never come across someone who is untruthful like him.
–
By: Ebenezer Afanyi Dadzie/citifmonline.com/Ghana

Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Enoch Teye Mensah, has descended heavily on presidential aide Sam George, who has filed his nomination to contest him in the NDC’s parliamentary primaries slated for November 7.
