The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo has indicated that the party is targeting 70 percent of total votes in the Eastern Region during the 2016 election.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Regional and Constituency Executives of the party in the Eastern Region during\u00a0his \u201cRise and Build\u201d tour, Nana Addo said that region must show its support by voting massively for the NPP.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”SnTZP9Re7GogG10kCJCz7ZovgSxzBGJ5″]He said unlike the NDC which is targeting “50 percent votes” in the region, the NPP is looking at “70 percent\u00a0of the popular votes in the Eastern Region for election 2016.”<\/p>\n
“The NDC is coming to wage a tribal campaign here in the Eastern Region, that is what they are going to do and that is why they are talking “50, 50.” We cannot allow them to do that. How are we going to stop them from doing that?We have to build a coalition of all the people in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n
“Eastern Region is like Ghana. Everyone is here. Akans are here, Dagombas are here, Kusasis are here. Eastern Region is a microcosm of Ghana. It is just like Ghana in one region so our campaign, our strategy, our understanding has to be as if we are fighting a Ghanaian campaign in the Eastern region,” the NPP flagbearer maintained.<\/p>\n
On party issues, Nana Addo cautioned NPP members to desist from discussing internal matters in the media.<\/p>\n
His comments came after the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong alleged that he [Nana Addo] had kept in the dark about his movements.<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Addressing party faithful, consisting of constituency executives, parliamentary candidates among others, from various constituencies, Nana Addo expressed his deep concern about the raging \u2018media battle\u2019 being waged by some members of the party on internal party issues,\u00a0expressing fears that the internal wrangling could\u00a0affect the fortunes of the party in the lead-up to the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n \u201cI am very concerned about what is happening (in the party). I have made a clear decision in my mind that we will have to resolve these issues. The radio campaign in our party is not helping any of us.
