{"id":149248,"date":"2015-09-06T12:54:47","date_gmt":"2015-09-06T12:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=149248"},"modified":"2015-09-06T12:54:47","modified_gmt":"2015-09-06T12:54:47","slug":"highlife-veteran-attakora-manu-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=149248","title":{"rendered":"Highlife veteran Attakora Manu dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has announced the death of Attakora Manu, a former executive member of MUSIGA in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to his son, BB Attakora, Attakora Manu died in Toase his hometown in the Ashanti Region after a short illness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Atakora Manu was born at Toase in Ashanti in 1940. Attakora was a composer, guitarist and a studio engineer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He formed a Concert Party known as the Princess Trio between 1963 and 1966.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was later a guitarist of the United Ghana Farmers Council Drama Troupe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1967, he together with Kakaiku formed KAKAIKU No.2 Band with him as the Lead guitarist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of their hits are Ohoho Batani, Kookrokoo, Akwantu Mu Nsem, Akyinkyina Akyinkyin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1970, he resigned from KAKAIKU No.2 Band and in 1973; he was employed as Studio Attendant by Ambassador Records where he re-grouped the Princess Trio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attakora&#8217;s repertoire includes the Disko Highlife, Afro Highlife, Bre bre Na Eye, Pim No Bi and Mena Awurade Be Nante among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His music has been described as smooth and groovy.
