General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has revealed that the party\u2019s parliamentary nomination forms have been oversubscribed.<\/p>\n
The party on August 27 opened nominations for presidential and parliamentary candidates for the upcoming primaries slated for\u00a0November 7, 2015.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”KlkaDkpW0Dj1RxAnl2EulRR0FiWqsqTx”]With some\u00a0few weeks into the opening of nominations, reports indicate an increase in the number of aspiring MPs who have picked up nomination forms to contest various seats across the country.<\/p>\n
Among the new entrants include \u00a0Dr. Ezenator Rawlings, Mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuye and the PRO of the VRA, Sam Fletcher.<\/p>\n
Addressing party supporters on Thursday after the Vice President Amissah Arthur picked nomination forms<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for President Mahama, Mr. Asiedu Nketia attributed the increased enthusiasm to what he referred to as an \u00a0indication of the confidence Ghanaians have in the NDC and John Mahama.<\/p>\n “The filing of nominations by\u00a0various candidates have been going on very enthusiastically,… the indications that we have point to the fact that the party’s candidature at the parliamentary levels have been oversubscribed, …that shows the vibrancy of the party and the confidence Ghanaians have in the government of President Mahama,” he stated.<\/p>\n Meanwhile the national executive body of the NDC has sacked officials<\/a><\/strong><\/span> who are reported to have issued nomination forms to George Boateng<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, a potential competitor for President Mahama for the flagbearers’ position.<\/p>\n Justifying the decision to sanction the party’s accountant and administrator, Johnson Asiedu Nketia stated that the two did not follow appropriate procedure in the discharge of their duties.<\/p>\n He added that the forms sold out to George Boateng were a draft copy since the forms could only be sold after it has been embossed with the \u201cparty\u2019s official seal\u201d by the General Secretary.<\/p>\n
