The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has served notice it will at the appropriate time respond to the ruling given by an Accra Fast Track High Court against the payment of the conversion difference from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).<\/p>\n
The Deputy General Secretary of the GMA, Dr. Justice Yankson indicated that \u201cat the appropriate time, the Ghana Medical Association will issue its response\u2026in equal measure.\u201d<\/p>\n
The GMA described as \u201csad\u201d the circumstances leading to the ruling by the Court and further alleged that the state hired \u201cprivate lawyers, external solicitors\u201d to handle the matter while the National Labour Commission (NLC) failed to appear in court.<\/p>\n
An Accra Fast Track High Court made the ruling on Tuesday and also ruled against the NLC\u2019s earlier directive to the FWSC asking them to pay the conversion difference to members of the GMA.<\/p>\n
He continued saying, \u201cwe are satisfied with whatever the court has said. We are going to respond and our response is going to be of equal measure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Explaining the effects of the ruling on the GMA, Dr. Yankson said: \u201cThe Ghana Medical Association and its members have their pensions reduced; we don\u2019t take ex-gratia, the law says that shouldn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
