{"id":148027,"date":"2015-09-01T19:13:31","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T19:13:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=148027"},"modified":"2015-09-01T19:14:26","modified_gmt":"2015-09-01T19:14:26","slug":"we-need-extra-security-to-contain-charles-antwi-chief-psychiatrist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=148027","title":{"rendered":"We need extra security to &#8216;contain&#8217; Charles Antwi- Chief Psychiatrist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief Psychiatrist and Medical Director of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Akwasi Osei has stressed the need for increased security at the facility for the duration the gunman, Charles Antwi will be there for treatment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An Accra High Court on Monday referred Charles Antwi to the psychiatric\u00a0hospital for treatment after it <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/31\/court-orders-release-of-mahamas-gunman-from-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\">quashed<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>a judgment by a Circuit Court sentencing him to ten years in prison.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Charles Antwi was <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/07\/28\/gunman-in-mahamas-church-jailed-10-years\/\" target=\"_blank\">convicted<\/a><\/strong><\/span> based on his own plea of planning to assassinate the President and for the unlawful possession of a fully loaded locally manufactured pistol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;xud2oXsOHX4FAhgoRKwLBtn6TGEJCWyB&#8221;]Charles Antwi&#8217;s\u00a0conviction was met with much criticism following concerns raised about the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/01\/lawyer-to-file-application-to-quash-charles-antwi-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\">state of his mental health<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Dr. Osei explained that boosting security at the hospital will guarantee the safety of workers and patients.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We will look at his condition, the risk to other inmates the risk of him running away and against our security and decide that yes we may\u00a0keep here but \u00a0let&#8217;s get the \u00a0policeman to guide him, or else we may give him up\u00a0to the prison where security is tighter than at our end,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief Psychiatrist further added, &#8220;if they don&#8217;t go through due diligence and they admit him and he runs away it will then appear that we had condoned which will be wrong but it will mean that we had assisted him to jump the wall or jump a lot of security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By:Pius Amihere Eduku\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chief Psychiatrist and Medical Director of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Akwasi Osei has stressed the need for increased security at the facility for the duration the gunman, Charles Antwi will be there for treatment.
