President John Dramani who was initially expected to go unopposed in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries on November 7 now has a challenger.<\/p>\n

The party’s Oyarifa Branch Youth Organiser,\u00a0George Boateng has declared his intention to challenge the President.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”EsbJmgzg1DbQqjkTK30E5hY05X47DCEx”]He is also a former aide to former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings who also challenged the late President John Attah Mills for the same position.<\/p>\n

Even though he is not a house-hold name in the party, Mr Boateng is optimistic he will be given the nod to represent the party in the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n

The 45 -year- old says\u00a0President John Mahama has failed to improve the lives of the poor and does not deserve to lead the party into the December 7 presidential elections.<\/p>\n

President Mahama served almost four years as Vice to President to John Atta Mills who died barely four months to the 2012 presidential elections.<\/p>\n

He served out that term and won the 2012 elections for a four-year term which ends in\u00a0December 2016.<\/p>\n

He will seek re-election to extend his mandate to 2020.<\/p>\n

The party has set November 7 to elect a flagbearer and 275 parliamentary candidates.<\/p>\n
