The Accra Regional Police Command say they are all set to provide security for a smooth District assembly elections on Tuesday September 1.<\/p>\n
According to the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Afia Tenge, her outfit will ensure strict compliance to all electoral laws to ensure that the election is conducted in an orderly manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of operational strategies to ensure a peaceful conduct of this exercise. As part of security measures, sufficient police personnel have been deployed to the various polling stations\u201d she told Citi News.<\/strong><\/p>\n ASP Tenge called on the public to report any lawlessness to the police.<\/p>\n The election is expected to be conducted on September 1 despite threats from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to drag the EC to court over the credibility of the voters\u2019 register.<\/p>\n It was initially slated for March 3 2015, \u00a0but was suspended in February when an aspiring assembly man, Benjamin\u00a0Eyi Mensah dragged the EC<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to court after he was denied the opportunity to file his nomination forms.<\/p>\n The EC later sent to Parliament, a new legislation to enable it run\u00a0the District Assembly Elections.<\/p>\n
