{"id":146142,"date":"2015-08-25T11:00:26","date_gmt":"2015-08-25T11:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=146142"},"modified":"2015-08-25T10:47:23","modified_gmt":"2015-08-25T10:47:23","slug":"well-prosecute-media-houses-if-fda-threatens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=146142","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;ll prosecute media houses if &#8230; &#8211; FDA threatens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is threatening to prosecute media houses that violate regulations of advertisement of products which have not been approved by the Authority.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA<span style=\"color: #666699;\"> <strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/07\/21\/fda-bans-6-aphrodisiacs\/\" target=\"_blank\">early on revoked<\/a><\/strong><\/span> marketing authorisation permits for the sale and distribution of some herbal medicines for men.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;EeKD7zUyySKkPVFO6J0oy4Hgq9djbtc1&#8243;]The products were Rockman Capsules, manufactured by RockCare Clinic; Angel Natural Capsules by Angel Herbal Products Industry and Tinattet Be4 Be4 Capsules by Tinattet Marketing Co. Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>The others were Adom Gentleman Power Capsules, manufactured by Dependable Pharmacy; Laud P Capsules by the Stephen Gyan Herbal Centre and Mars for Men, imported by Joe D.D. Ventures.<\/p>\n<p>All the products were found to have been adulterated with Vardenafil, a synthetic pharmaceutical ingredient used in the formulation of prescription-only medicine for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.<\/p>\n<p>The Authority however insists some media houses are still advertising these products, a situation it described as unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> after a stakeholder meeting in Ho, Public Relations Officer at the FDA, James Lartey said those media houses who \u00a0are found culpable will face the full rigors of the law.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have spoken to the \u00a0secret agencies; the BNI, the Ghana Police Service and they have all indicated their readiness to help the FDA fight the issue of advertisement. When you flout the law regarding advertisement, the FDA will officially inform the Police and they will invite these media houses and question them because it will be regarded as a criminal offence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The FDA in July<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/07\/31\/fda-fines-pharmaceutical-company-for-repackaging-unwholesome-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>\u00a0 imposed an administrative charge<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>of GH\u00a250,000 on GB Pharma, a pharmaceutical company, for attempting to repackage drugs destroyed in the June 3 floods for distribution.<\/p>\n<p>The fine also covered the company\u2019s operation of an unlicensed warehouse for medicine storage.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is threatening to prosecute media houses that violate regulations of advertisement of products which have not been approved by the Authority.
