{"id":145949,"date":"2015-08-24T15:06:07","date_gmt":"2015-08-24T15:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=145949"},"modified":"2015-08-24T15:06:07","modified_gmt":"2015-08-24T15:06:07","slug":"calm-returns-to-bawku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=145949","title":{"rendered":"Calm returns to Bawku"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bawku Municipal Chief Executive says calm has returned to the area\u00a0following clashes between the youth of the area and Police.<\/p>\n<p>The youth, numbering over 200 were allegedly <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/23\/update-bawku-police-station-attacked-attempted-break-into-armory\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>protesting what they term<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>the unlawful arrest of a local Imam.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;VSFFhDBgKs8iyXgElcd52Flj2PnyKS6T&#8221;]\u00a0They attacked the Bawku Police Station to demand the release of the Imam.<\/p>\n<p>Gunshots were fired following their attempt to break into the police station.<\/p>\n<p>Two persons were injured in the process however the\u00a0Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Bukari Isaaku \u00a0told Citi News the police are in control of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor sometime now there has been absolute peace&#8230; No arrest has been made but the Police I\u2019m told are carrying out investigation. Bawku has been very peaceful.
