called off their three -weeks strike<\/a>,<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0over demands for a codified conditions of service.<\/p>\nGovernment had appealed to the doctors to call off the strike while negotiations continue since they cannot negotiate under “duress.”<\/p>\n
Speaking on Accra based Joy FM, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu was elated over the recent development.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe principle is not in dispute and not in doubt. It is just the nuances of it,\u201d added the Minsiter.<\/p>\n
He indicated that government will be meeting with the Ghana Medical Association on Monday to commence talks on their conditions of service.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor us as government we had indicated that once this action is over we will reopen negotiation in earnest with the GMA and other health workers,\u201d Haruna Iddrisu added.<\/p>\n
The Employment Minister further explained that the\u00a0Public Services Joint Standing Negotiation Committee had been given up to September 30 to conclude\u00a0issues of some \u2018category 2 and 3 allowances.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is the expectation of government that this year, general negotiations on minimum wage and others, we should be able to conclude by the end of October.\u201d<\/p>\n
