{"id":145428,"date":"2015-08-22T10:10:11","date_gmt":"2015-08-22T10:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=145428"},"modified":"2015-08-22T07:30:23","modified_gmt":"2015-08-22T07:30:23","slug":"govt-must-apologise-not-us-gma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=145428","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t must apologise not us \u2013 GMA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Frank Serebour has insisted that they do not owe Ghanaians any apology over the three-week long strike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The GMA on Friday <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/21\/doctors-call-off-striuke\/\" target=\"_blank\">called off the strike<\/a>,<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0yielding to public appeal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Tidq1uKHl6mWaA5EAPIo3TKQxsIjKjj9&#8243;]He said it is government that should be apologising.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was speaking on\u00a0<strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> when he was asked whether the GMA will apologise to Ghanaians for the needless deaths that occurred when public sector workers embarked on strike for three weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIf there is any apology to such people, I think it should come from government and not the Ghana Medical Association,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It has also directed it&#8217;s members to report to work on Monday August 24, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Defeat?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Dr. Serebour \u00a0rejected claims that calling off the strike means they had been defeated by government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue with the GMA is that we are a very democratic organization, people have their views and opinions. Even in this meeting, there were varied views but at the end of the day we go with the collective opinion and then we accept.
