Davis\u00a0disclosed to him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cIt feels great to learn that so soon, the international community is appreciating the essence of\u00a0engaging this great platform. I am particularly elated because one of the cardinal principles institutionalizing GMW Festival was to serve as a booster for tourism drive whiles creating the\u00a0industry\u2019s biggest platform to bring together and encourage participation of artistes, stakeholders, the\u00a0media, decision\/policy makers and music users.\u201d Obour said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">GMW is a week-long music festival held at various venues in Ghana during the first week of\u00a0March [including the Independence Day of the Republic] each year. It features local, national and\u00a0continental music talent from a variety of different musical genres offered. GMW Festival is organized\u00a0by the Musicians Union of Ghana in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism and Culture &amp; Creative\u00a0Arts, Showbiz Africa and Fantasy Entertainment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Prior to the main launch at the Forecourt of the Mount Vernon City Hall on Saturday October\u00a017, 2015, there will be an International Media Launch at the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC on\u00a0Friday, October 16, 2015 and an After-Party hosted by Leslie Quaynor of Fantasy Entertainment, US.A.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The launch is expected to effectively sell the concept of Ghana Music Week (and Tourism in\u00a0Ghana) to the rest of the world, as explained further by the Festival\u2019s Executive Director, Verus Nartey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThe core objective of the international launch\u201d, according Verus Nartey, \u201cis to roll out\u00a0innovative activities to attract about 5,000 visitors from the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa, to\u00a0Ghana for the 2016 Ghana Music Week in March, and to promote Ghanaian tourism through music\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">More info is available at www.facebook.com\/ghanamusicweekfestival,\u00a0www.twitter.com\/ghmusicweek; email: ghanamusicweek@live.com.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As part of the launch, the partnership will award individuals for their contribution to the\u00a0promotion of Arts and Culture in Ghana and U.S.A. \u00a0Mr. Rabbi Kohain Halevi, a native of the City of\u00a0Mount Vernon, who has been living in Ghana for the past 25 years and currently heads PANAFEST, is\u00a0expected to be honoured. He brought Mayor Davis to Ghana some years back, which resulted in the\u00a0establishment of a Sister City relationship between Elmina and Mount Vernon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Some of the industry top personalities and performers are expected to attend the World Launch;\u00a0so are the First Lady of the Republic, Mrs.Lordina Mahama and the Minister for Tourism, Culture &amp;\u00a0Creative Arts, Hon.
