{"id":143808,"date":"2015-08-16T15:17:26","date_gmt":"2015-08-16T15:17:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=143808"},"modified":"2015-08-16T15:43:16","modified_gmt":"2015-08-16T15:43:16","slug":"mahama-reassures-ghanaians-he-will-fix-dumsor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=143808","title":{"rendered":"Mahama reassures Ghanaians he will &#8216;fix Dumsor&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ghana\u2019s power sector which has faced serious challenges within the last three years is expected to improve within the coming months, President John Mahama has reassured.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him, government is working to increase the country\u2019s generation capacity.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_143835\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-143835\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-inspects-vra-thermal-plant-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-143835 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-inspects-vra-thermal-plant-5.jpg\" alt=\"mahama-inspects-vra-thermal-plant-5\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-inspects-vra-thermal-plant-5.jpg 640w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-inspects-vra-thermal-plant-5-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-143835\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mahama inspects VRA thermal plants<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Le1fnxignI5D1Mzuf8voh8foVpV4b1vW&#8221;]Speaking at this year\u2019s GJA awards, the president who commended Ghanaians for bearing with government in the trying moments also stated that works are ongoing at some thermal and power plants to increase the nation\u2019s generation capacity by 1,800 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWithin the next several months we expect the completion of projects which will add about 1,800 MW of generation capacity to the national grid,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of the power projects that are expected to contribute to the nation\u2019s generation capacity include; 225 MW power from Karpower plant; 250 MW power from the Ameri project in Takoradi and 110 MW from the TEI project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Others are 370 MW from the AKSA project which was recently approved from parliament as well as 300MW GELE power project which the president says a commercial agreement is currently being reviewed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A successful completion of these projects is expected to ease the inconveniences the erratic power supply has brought onto various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The President earlier in the state of the nation\u2019s address pledged that he will fix dumsor.
