<\/a><\/p>\nSpeaking at the programme, the Vice President said, “there is no denying the fact that in the past 180 years Methodism in Ghana has made\u00a0tremendous gains. From a handful of keenly educated Christians, constituting the nucleus of\u00a0the Methodist Community in 1835, led by Rev. Joseph Rhodes Dunwell as Minister, that\u00a0number had grown to over eight hundred thousand (800,000) with over one thousand two\u00a0hundred (1,200) Reverend Ministers.”<\/p>\n
‘The Methodist Church Ghana, in obedience to God\u2019s command to support the poor, the needy,\u00a0the sick and the oppressed as well as orphans and widows, has participated in a number of\u00a0Community projects to address the social needs of people in and outside the Church. The\u00a0areas include education, health & sanitation, agriculture, empowerment of women and the\u00a0girl-child education and training.”<\/p>\n

“In complementing Government\u2019s efforts in education, you set up some of the best schools. In\u00a0health you created a number of restorative facilities. You were involved in agriculture\u00a0production and in the drilling of boreholes to provide potable water to poor communities.\u00a0There are many projects that are noted in the anniversary brochure such as the collaborative\u00a0work you have done in the establishment of the Rafiki Children\u2019s Satellite Village in the\u00a0Winneba Diocese,” he added.<\/p>\n The event which was to thank God for all these years of Methodist church in Ghana was also to climax a month long activities outlined to mark the anniversary.<\/p>\n Some of the programmes that preceded the\u00a0thanksgiving service\u00a0included:\u00a0METHOFEST in Sunyani, a float and a what-do-you-know competition.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
