An aspirant in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) Primaries in the Korle Klottey Constituency, Philip Addison is questioning the basis for the party\u2019s decision to hold primaries in the area on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The party has indicated that Parliamentary primaries in the constituency will come off<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>on Sunday, 2nd<\/sup> August, 2015.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”lK9ffFc07UgNpnoJFG9hrkPT0jzbyfXM”]The directive comes days after a court struck out an injunction application, seeking to further suspend the polls in the constituency.<\/p>\n However the lawyer, who was unhappy about the development, on the Point Blank<\/strong> segment on Eyewitness News<\/strong> said aspirants are just being \u201crailroaded\u201d into the election.<\/p>\n He said he was quite confused upon hearing that the party had decided to organise the primaries on Sunday because party executives had met on Friday and agreed on a different date.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the meeting, we had agreed that Sunday was not a suitable date … we had agreed that the elections will come on 28th<\/sup> August. The meeting was convened by the Constituency Chairperson, a Member of the Elections Committee, one of the aspirants etc.<\/p>\n Mr Addison accused the NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong who signed the press release announcing the Sunday date, of being the brain behind organising the primaries tomorrow.<\/p>\n He said he does not know why Mr Agyepong is rushing the elections.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know what happened because we had a meeting with stakeholders. We took a decision which we said was binding on all of us so I don\u2019t know what happened. I consider this to be very disrespectful,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n He pointed out that it will be very difficult for aspirants to mount a vigorous campaign ahead of the elections, considering the short notice given to them.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is going to be difficult mobilising for the elections.
