The Kejetia Traders Association in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region has appealed against the dismissal of an \u00a0application for an injunction against the demolition of the market by the Kumasi Metropolitan \u00a0Assembly (KMA) by a Human Rights Court.<\/p>\n
The \u00a0court threw out the traders’ request for an injunction to be placed on the\u00a0demolition of the Kejetia Bus Terminal meant to pave way for the redevelopment of the terminal.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”Zue7hD7q91xwVrxp6KVVs6Bmb51lrBd2″]The Public Relations Officer of the KTA\u00a0Andrews Kofie confirmed \u00a0to\u00a0Citi News\u00a0<\/strong>that they had filed their appeal against the decision immediately after the ruling.<\/p>\n \u201cWe filed an appeal yesterday, immediately after the ruling because we think immediately after the ruling because we think that matter should have gone in our favour. \u00a0We disagree [with the ruling] and it is a matter of legality. Therefore through our lawyer we found it prudent to file an appeal to contest the case,” he said.<\/p>\n According to him the appeal was filed early in order for the judges to hear their case as there was doubt the judges will sit on Wednesday.<\/p>\n “The reason for filing the case yesterday was based on the fact that maybe the judge would not sit on Wednesday. If that happens we would have no other chance of filing an appeal. Because they are going on recess on. We did that to prevent any failure to file the appeal.”<\/p>\n He expressed optimism that their appeal would be successful, stating that several ‘issues’ in the KMA’s case which should have been analysed were not.<\/p>\n “We hope that the appeal will go in our favour because there are many issues that according to our laws \u00a0should have been taken into consideration which were not. Tomorrow the judge will finally give us the reason why he objected to our injunction.
