{"id":136979,"date":"2015-07-23T16:37:14","date_gmt":"2015-07-23T16:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=136979"},"modified":"2015-07-23T14:49:14","modified_gmt":"2015-07-23T14:49:14","slug":"nhia-to-rollout-biometric-registration-in-northern-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=136979","title":{"rendered":"NHIA to rollout biometric registration in Northern Region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) will on Monday July 27 begin the Northern regional phase of the\u00a0nationwide biometric registration exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Authority has so far biometrically registered all it subscribers in eight regions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The exercise is scheduled to commence in the first five districts for a start.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4899.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-136982 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4899.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4899\" width=\"620\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4899.jpg 620w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4899-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These include Bunkprugu\/Yunyoo, West Mamprusi, East Mamprusi, Gushiegu and Karaga.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At a media briefing in Tamale, Director of Management Information Systems at the NHIA headquarters, Perry Nelson said the exercise aimed avoiding multiple registration which characterized the old data base.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He implied that exercise will authenticate data and address the recycling of phantom claims issued by service providers for reimbursement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Perry Nelson revealed that the NHIA was inundated with a heap of uncollected identification cards, hence the decision to migrate all subscribers onto the digital data base.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said during the exercise, preferential services will be rendered to pregnant women, children under five, the aged-elderly above 70 and first timers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He advised old subscribers\u2019 desirous renewal of their membership to do so after three months or less to the expiry date.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Perry Nelson explained that both the new and the old cards will be accepted at all NHIS accredited health care facilities until a complete replacement of the old ones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4900.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-136983 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4900.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4900\" width=\"683\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4900.jpg 683w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_4900-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further allayed fears that subscribers will have to pay extra for the new cards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He however reiterated the need for subscribers to pay the originally prescribed premium for health insurance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Northern Regional Manager of the NHIA, Alhaji Hudu Iddrisu assured all NHIS subscribers in the region of quality services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said every NHIS accredited service provider or health facility in the region will receive finger print scanner, ID card reader and a personal computer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He pleaded with the media to sensitize the general public on the importance of the biometric registration exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) will on Monday July 27 begin the Northern regional phase of the\u00a0nationwide biometric registration exercise.
