{"id":136839,"date":"2015-07-23T11:17:14","date_gmt":"2015-07-23T11:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=136839"},"modified":"2015-07-23T11:17:14","modified_gmt":"2015-07-23T11:17:14","slug":"new-teachers-to-receive-salaries-in-advance-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=136839","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;New&#8217; teachers to receive salaries in advance  &#8211; Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government has declared its intentions of devising structures that will ensure that new teachers deployed in the public sector are paid in advance.<\/p>\n<p>This was revealed by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Seth Terkper in a joint interview with <strong>Citi FM\u2019s<\/strong> Bernard Avle and Radio Gold\u2019s Alhaji Suhini.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;rBRYA5sDPXLf35C1AshgTsmPFPZzZeey&#8221;]Several public sector workers have <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/07\/22\/more-public-sector-workers-decry-salary-delays\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>expressed concerns<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>over the non-payment of their outstanding arrears for some months now.<\/p>\n<p>A teacher in Begoro in the Eastern Region, revealed on the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong> on Wednesday that he had not been paid in the last ten months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I call them, they tell me that they are working on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Philip from Suhum in the Eastern Region, complained that he has since October 2012 [when he was appointment] not received any salary till date.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_136848\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-136848\" style=\"width: 498px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Teacher-trainees.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-136848 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Teacher-trainees.jpg\" alt=\"Teacher trainees\" width=\"498\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Teacher-trainees.jpg 498w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Teacher-trainees-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-136848\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Teacher trainees<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe saddest thing is that when you visit their offices, they don\u2019t even care. I\u2019ve worked with the GES close to three years now. So far, I\u2019ve lost count but it\u2019s about two years ten months, and I\u2019ve received nothing. My mother and few benevolent people have been supporting me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister has however revealed that government will soon introduce a new system that will address those challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are working on putting an HRMI system in place so that everything is done electronically. We are combining the HRMI system with the payroll system and upgrading both to improve the process. We are going to test the system with new teachers posted this year.
