{"id":136629,"date":"2015-07-22T14:15:43","date_gmt":"2015-07-22T14:15:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=136629"},"modified":"2015-07-22T13:21:04","modified_gmt":"2015-07-22T13:21:04","slug":"mason-jailed-7-years-for-defilement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=136629","title":{"rendered":"Mason jailed 7 years for defilement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5230\" class=\"yiv1431560821MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5226\">John Benson, a mason at Abrem Agona in the Central Region, has been sentenced by a Cape Coast Circuit Court to seven years imprisonment in hard labour for defilling his neighbour\u2019s 13-year-old daughter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5225\" class=\"yiv1431560821MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5223\">The 25-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges but was found guilty after the trial by the court, which was presided over by Mr. Kofi Ameteww.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5238\" class=\"yiv1431560821MsoNormal\">\u00a0<span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5239\">According to Police Chief Inspector Christina Sampong, the incident occurred on the evening of December 11, 2014 when after returning from work, the girl\u2019s parents were unable to locate her within the vicinity of their home. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1431560821MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5239\">They suspected Benson and forced their way into his house, where they discovered him having sexual intercourse with their daughter in his room.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5241\" class=\"yiv1431560821MsoNormal\">\u00a0<span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5243\">According to Inspector Sampong, Benson came to the girl\u2019s house and ordered her to buy banku for him before dragging her into his house and forcibly raping her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5244\" class=\"yiv1431560821MsoNormal\">\u00a0<span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437570249585_5246\">While Benson was taken into the custody of the Abrem Agona Police, the case was referred to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast.
