{"id":136341,"date":"2015-07-21T13:46:45","date_gmt":"2015-07-21T13:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=136341"},"modified":"2015-07-21T13:46:45","modified_gmt":"2015-07-21T13:46:45","slug":"our-water-is-pure-gwcl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=136341","title":{"rendered":"Our water is pure \u00a0&#8211; Ghana Water Company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is entreating the public to use water it has treated for consumption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;UXH1O1UYUog8hSU2J1Du7NjVMG2ui3NI&#8221;]While many households already use GWCL water for other domestic purposes aside from drinking, the company assures the public that it is completely safe to be used as drinking water as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Stanley Martey, the Public Relations Officer for the GWCL, once the water goes through their treatment plant, it meets the high standards set by the Ghana Standards Board and the World Health Organization necessary for it to be used as drinking water.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIf you come to my house, I\u2019ll serve you tap water,\u201d said Mr. Martey \u201cbecause I drink directly from the tap. Our water is the highest quality that I can think of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To emphasize his point even further during his statement, Mr. Martey drew attention to the fact that very water he was drinking at that moment was tap water.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Martey in an interview with Citi News said that GWCL upholds some of the best practices in water production and distribution in the world, alongside of those of many European countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also stated that 99% of sachet water producers use GWCL water as their raw material.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Water ATMs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In another development, the\u00a0GWCL has announced that it will soon introduce <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/07\/13\/nima-teshie-others-to-get-water-atms\/\" target=\"_blank\">water ATMs for deprived communities<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>in Accra.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This initiative \u00a0they say will enable people to buy water from the GWCL at cheaper rates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is also to make up for the company\u2019s inability to provide potable water to some communities because of poor settlement planning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Franziska Monahan\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is entreating the public to use water it has treated for consumption.
