The wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur has explained the rationale behind telling off the headmistress of Kukurantumi Presby School when she requested government provided her school with chalk.<\/p>\n
She said her aim was to encourage community participation towards the day to day running of the school.<\/p>\n

The Second Lady on Wednesday visited the\u00a0Kukurantumi Presby School to donate five computers but after the presentation, the headmistress requested for other educational supplies including chalk.<\/p>\n
But Mrs Amissah-Arthur publicly rebuked the headmistress<\/a><\/strong><\/span> saying,\u00a0\u201cI will not give you chalk today, neither will I give it to you tomorrow. You have teachers; you have the PTA, go and buy chalk for the school,\u201d<\/p>\n She has since come under fire, with many teacher groups and individuals calling on her to apologize.<\/p>\n Delivering an address at the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Jack and Jill School in Accra, the wife of the Vice President took the opportunity to apologize<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe comments I made have been in the media since I made them. When the headmistress asked for chalk, my response was intended to encourage community participation in the school.
