The news was first reported by <em>Re\/code<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter, for its part, thanked Stricker for his contributions, but suggested his departure was part of a larger company strategy and a need for change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It continues to be essential that we show the world the value of Twitter,&#8221; a Twitter spokesperson told <em>Mashable<\/em> in a statement. &#8220;Communications is a key component of that, and to help build toward a stronger future, we are looking now to shift our communications strategy and direction. We will be bringing in new leadership, and we thank Gabriel for his contributions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His departure follows Dick Costolo&#8217;s, whose surprising resignation made headlines in June. Costolo&#8217;s last day as CEO was July 1, although he will remain on Twitter&#8217;s board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>Stricker&#8217;s departure shouldn&#8217;t come as a total surprise. Although interim CEO and Twitter creator Jack Dorsey previously said he doesn&#8217;t foresee any changes in Twitter&#8217;s &#8220;strategy or direction,&#8221; change was inevitable.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last 12 months, Twitter came under fire for challenges around stagnant user growth, user retention and disappointing results from its direct-response advertising business.<\/p>\n<p>Leaks to the public, including prematurely released first-quarter 2015 earnings, haven&#8217;t helped the company, either.<\/p>\n<p>Dorsey, however, kept it classy, publicly bidding Stricker <em>sayonara<\/em> via \u2014 how else? \u2014 tweet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Mashable<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The company&#8217;s head of communications, Gabriel Stricker, tweeted on Thursday he was leaving Twitter more than three years after joining.
