A court order for a recount of votes in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sunyani East constituency primaries has re-affirmed the legitimacy of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwesi Ameyaw-Kyeremeh.<\/p>\n
The losing candidate in the June 13\u00a0primaries, George Kumi who is also Ghana\u2019s former Ambassador to Libya and High Commissioner to Nigeria in the erstwhile Kufuor administration petitioned the Sunyani High Court for a recount of the votes.<\/p>\n
He had obtained a total of 387 votes, losing to the incumbent, Kwesi Ameyaw-Kyeremeh, who had 388 votes in the keenly contested election.<\/p>\n
The court subsequently\u00a0ordered a recount of the votes on\u00a0Friday and after two hours of counting, Kwesi Ameyaw-Kyeremeh even had one more vote in addition to his original number of votes, while the aggrieved candidate lost one more.<\/p>\n
