{"id":133855,"date":"2015-07-13T05:45:59","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T05:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=133855"},"modified":"2015-07-13T05:45:59","modified_gmt":"2015-07-13T05:45:59","slug":"muslims-to-celebrate-eid-ul-fitr-on-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=133855","title":{"rendered":"Muslims to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr on Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Hilal Committee (NHC) has announced that this year&#8217;s Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was stated in a letter sent to the Ministry of Interior and signed by Chairman of the NHC, \u00a0Sheikh Mahmoud Gedel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;aiXIcg5GT7b0EnnbXLREPaaJxfaReV7h&#8221;]\u201cOn the authority of the National Chief Iman and the Ameer and Missionary-in-Charge of the Ahamadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, the National Hila Committee (NHC) of Ghana had decided that Eid ul-Fitr 2015 will be celebrated on Saturday 18th July, 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NHC further pleaded with the Ministry of Interior to consider making Monday July 20<sup>th<\/sup> a public holiday because the celebration falls on a Saturday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn accordance with section 2 of the Public Holiday (amendment) Act 1995, it will be appreciated if Monday 20th July is declared as a statutory public holiday,\u201d the letter added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eid ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the month of Ramadan, Muslims observe a strict fast and participate in pious activities such as charitable giving and peace-making.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is a time of intense spiritual renewal for those who observe it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the end of Ramadan, Muslims throughout the world observe a joyous three-day celebration called Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Fast-Breaking).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
