{"id":13356,"date":"2014-04-14T16:01:23","date_gmt":"2014-04-14T16:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=13356"},"modified":"2014-04-14T18:16:40","modified_gmt":"2014-04-14T18:16:40","slug":"euro-hits-4-cedis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=13356","title":{"rendered":"Euro hits 4 cedis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite moves by the Bank of Ghana to save the cedi from further fall, it appears the local currency is still struggling to keep its head above the water.<\/p>\n<p>The Euro this morning hit four cedis at the local forex bureaus after rallying between 3 cedis 80 and 3 cedi 90 peswes for some weeks now.<\/p>\n<p>Last week it started the week at 3 cedis\u00a088\u00a0pesewas, hitting 3 cedis\u00a089\u00a0pesewas mid week and 3 cedis\u00a092\u00a0pesewas by close of the week.<\/p>\n<p>The Euro is not the only major foreign currency that the cedi is struggling to keep up with.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/euro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13358\" alt=\"euro\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/euro.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/euro.jpg 400w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/euro-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/pound.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13359\" alt=\"pound\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/pound.jpg\" width=\"615\" height=\"461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/pound.jpg 615w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/pound-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/a>Forex analysts fear the dollar and pound may also hit 3 cedis and 5 cedis respectively soon if current trends continue.<\/p>\n<p>The dollar is now at about 2 cedis\u00a088 pesewas while the British pound is at\u00a04 cedis\u00a083 pesewas at local forex bureaus in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Last week the dollar closed at 2 cedis\u00a084 pesewas while the British pound closed at\u00a04 cedis\u00a074 pesewas.<\/p>\n<p>This year alone the cedi has depreciated by 18 percent against the dollar according to figures released by the Bank of Ghana at its last Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13360\" alt=\"images\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images.jpg\" width=\"344\" height=\"147\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images.jpg 344w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images-300x128.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px\" \/><\/a>In February this year the Bank of Ghana introduced new and revised rules to save the cedi from further fall.<\/p>\n<p>According to the bank it will review the rules next month.<\/p>\n<p>By: \u00a0Vivian Kai Mensah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite moves by the Bank of Ghana to save the cedi from further fall, it appears the local currency is still struggling to keep its head above the water.
