{"id":133318,"date":"2015-07-10T14:48:03","date_gmt":"2015-07-10T14:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=133318"},"modified":"2015-07-10T14:48:03","modified_gmt":"2015-07-10T14:48:03","slug":"lawyer-sues-lekma-over-bad-roads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=133318","title":{"rendered":"Lawyer sues LEKMA over bad roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A private legal practitioner has dragged the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) to court over bad road network in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lawyer,\u00a0Mrs Margaret Acheampong is praying the court to compel LEKMA to\u00a0construct a section of a road leading to her house at the Teshie Nungua Estates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Mrs Margaret Acheampong, the road leading to her house is so bad that \u201cshe had to dance agbadza\u201d to and from her house.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;UX5bK5EQUo8AYrB8dg9GEz2Tirp8Q8jA&#8221;]The lawyer contended that she is a tax payer\u00a0and pays her\u00a0property rate to LEKMA hence it is the latters obligation to construct roads in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile,\u00a0the court,\u00a0presided over by Mr Justice A.K. Okwabi, last Monday, noted that the counsel representing LEKMA in their defence, had admitted that the roads are\u00a0bad and mentioned that funds were not readily available to make way for the construction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Counsel for LEKMA said he had held talks with the Assembly to find the way out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mrs Acheampong, who represented herself, told the court that when the Municipal Chief Executive chose to reside within the Estates, he ensured that a road known as the \u201cCocoa Street\u201d was reconstructed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The High Court adjourned the matter to July 14 for parties in the matter to discuss issues with the view of settling it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A private legal practitioner has dragged the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) to court over bad road network in the area.
