The Minority Spokesperson on Defence, William Ofori Boafo has said the Interior Minister, Mark Woyongo\u2019s comments on acts of violence in the recent Talensi by-election exposed his lack of confidence in the Police Service.<\/p>\n
The Interior Minister on Wednesday, defended the decision<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>by vigilante groups, Azorka boys and Bolga Bulldogs to stage attacks during the polls, describing their actions as a pure case of \u201cviolence begets violence\u201d.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”MQtG0Zv1RtKkDSJIifR9IoqgmrljAfwl”]Speaking in an interview with Eyewitness News<\/strong> host, Richard Dela Sky, Mr. Boafo explained that the Minister’s comments gave a clear indication that \u201che doubts the competence of the Police in handling violent cases”.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was an unfortunate casual remarks by the Minister because I least expected him, having being a Minister of Defence, a Minister of one of the regions and now a Minister of Interior I least expected such remarks from him.\u201d<\/p>\n He further expressed fears that the Minister\u2019s comments might trigger \u201cdisaffection\u00a0 in the Police Service.\u201d<\/p>\n Investigate Woyongo<\/strong><\/p>\n The Minister has\u00a0 come under intense criticism, while others have also called for his removal since he made those comments.<\/p>\n Speaking on the development, Mr. Boafo however downplayed calls for his dismissal and rather suggested that \u00a0he should be investigated.<\/p>\n \u201cI will prefer that we investigate the post relationship between him and the security agencies. Mark Woyongo should not be dismissed. He is a good minister but maybe not for his current position.”<\/p>\n I’ll remain in office\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n In a related development, Mr.\u00a0Woyongo, has condemned\u00a0calls<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>for his resignation, vowing to remain in office.<\/p>\n \u201cResign for what?
