to price petroleum products<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in Ghana.<\/p>\nAccording to the\u00a0(GTPCWU), government has through the move put the fate of Ghanaians into the hands of OMCs.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”cAiPghLoYkpwZbY417ZBHR3zIKxUUlJk”]GTPCWU added that the OMCs have since the implementation of the full deregulation regime increased three times which amounts to\u00a030.16 saying “it is unacceptable and must be condemned.”<\/p>\n
Bemoaning the situation, GTPCWU called for a system that will institute a petroleum pricing mechanism that would take into consideration the standard of living of workers.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, the General Secretary of GTPCWU, Francis Sallah indicated that government should as a matter of urgency withdraw the power given to the OMCs and revert to the old system of petroleum pricing.<\/p>\n\u201cWe are asking that as a matter of urgency, let the NPA continue to do its job. Let them be the regulator as they were before, we shouldn\u2019t endorse the full deregulation system,” Francis Sallah added.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also know that the IMF is dictating all this. If they were doing things very well, would they have been sacked from other countries? Why should we admit them into our country and now they are coming to run how we move or how we carry ourselves. We don\u2019t think it is fair. Ordinary Ghanaians are suffering. It is just becoming too much and we need to revert to as it used to be before so that the ordinary Ghanaian on the street can have his or her peace of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n
