{"id":132115,"date":"2015-07-07T07:32:00","date_gmt":"2015-07-07T07:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=132115"},"modified":"2015-07-07T07:32:00","modified_gmt":"2015-07-07T07:32:00","slug":"old-fadama-residents-begin-rebuilding-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=132115","title":{"rendered":"Old Fadama residents begin rebuilding [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Three weeks after a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/20\/sodom-and-gomorrah-demolishing-underway-photos\/#sthash.8N1jqom0.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">demolition exercise<\/a><\/strong><\/span> by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) at Old Fadama, some residents have begun setting up some make shift tents at the location.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When <strong>Citi News<\/strong> visited the site on Monday, there were over 20 tents, which had been put up by some of the residents there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of them who spoke to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> defended their action explaining that they have nowhere to lay their heads, hence their refusal to vacate the place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-132116 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-1.jpg\" alt=\"building tents at old fadama (1)\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe reason why I\u2019m building the tent is that I have many cattle here so I can\u2019t leave them behind, unless I sell them before I can leave this town. Moreover, I don\u2019t have anywhere to go because I lost all my properties in the demolition exercise,\u201d one of the residents told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another one lamented, \u201cwe have our businesses here. Some of us are butchers and scrap dealers and we lost most of our properties. Some of us lost 5 rooms, others 18 rooms, 20 rooms and the like. Some of us lost our monies in our rooms because we were not around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-132118 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-3.jpg\" alt=\"building tents at old fadama (3)\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/building-tents-at-old-fadama-3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another resident who was busily putting up his tent said, \u201cwhen we go back to the north, we will have nothing to do. We are just around; even if they destroy the whole market, we are not going anywhere. We will be in Accra because this is where we work, so no matter how the situation is we will still be in Accra.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, some of the residents who were <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/27\/old-fadama-residents-return-home-photos\/\" target=\"_blank\">willing to return to their hometown<\/a>s<\/strong><\/span> in the northern part of Ghana have been transported back home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
