{"id":131926,"date":"2015-07-06T13:50:18","date_gmt":"2015-07-06T13:50:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=131926"},"modified":"2015-07-06T13:50:18","modified_gmt":"2015-07-06T13:50:18","slug":"court-adjourns-kofi-jumahs-case-to-july-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=131926","title":{"rendered":"Court adjourns Kofi Jumah&#8217;s case to July 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The criminal case against former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been adjourned to July 9.<\/p>\n<p>The case was adjourned after the State Attorney, Emmanuel Ato Barson asked for more time to study the docket.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;NQtjNTAapiEwBKXIXFDAcTl6gvpRoWpr&#8221;]He was arrested for<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/13\/npp-primaries-kofi-jumah-arrested-for-tearing-up-voters-register\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0destroying the party\u2019s<\/a><\/strong><\/span> voter register claiming it had been doctored to suit his opponent \u00a0in the recently held New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in the constituency.<\/p>\n<p>The former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive was later charged for destroying electoral materials and disturbing public peace.<\/p>\n<p>He was launching a comeback for the seat he lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament, Patricia Appiah Adjei in the 2011 primaries.<\/p>\n<p>He however lost the election after he polled\u00a0158 votes while the incumbent\u00a0polled 326.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Defence of petition\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile a\u00a0member of Kofi Jumah\u2019s campaign team, Kess King<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/23\/kofi-jumah-defends-petition-over-results-of-npp-asokwa-primaries\/#sthash.dr7wjFKo.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"> has defended his boss\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0petition\u00a0seeking cancellation of\u00a0the parliamentary primaries.<\/p>\n<p>Kofi Jumah earlier petitioned\u00a0the leadership of the NPP contends that an old voter\u2019s album was used \u00a0to \u00a0conduct the primaries in the area and therefore was a \u201ccomplete sham.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The criminal case against former Member of Parliament for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been adjourned to July 9.
