The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has demolished more than\u00a070 illegal structures at Adedenkpo in Accra.<\/p>\n

The demolition which started at 5 am on Sunday was supervised by personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

This is the second demolition which has been carried out this weekend and it has displaced about a thousand squatters.<\/p>\n

Most of the affected persons told Citi News<\/strong>, they were given prior notice but they are now asking for\u00a0alternative\u00a0accommodation.<\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije in an interview with Citi News<\/strong> said his outfit\u00a0will not rest until all structures constructed on water ways and along the Odaw River and Korle Lagoon are demolished.<\/p>\n

These demolitions in the capital are being carried out to prevent flooding.<\/p>\n
