{"id":131493,"date":"2015-07-05T06:23:12","date_gmt":"2015-07-05T06:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=131493"},"modified":"2015-07-05T06:23:12","modified_gmt":"2015-07-05T06:23:12","slug":"princess-charlotte-to-be-christened-at-sandringham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=131493","title":{"rendered":"Princess Charlotte to be christened at Sandringham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Princess Charlotte will be christened later at a ceremony attended by the Queen and other senior members of the Royal Family in Norfolk.<\/p>\n<p>The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and the princess will appear as a family of four in public for the first time at the baptism.<\/p>\n<p>Other guests will include the Prince of Wales and Catherine&#8217;s parents.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony will take place at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham.<\/p>\n<p>The baptism, conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury the Most Reverend Justin Welby, will be held in private.<\/p>\n<p>But members of the public will be allowed into the area outside the church &#8211; known as the paddock &#8211; to see Charlotte and other royals arrive and depart.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape full-width has-caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/FCB7\/production\/_84059646_017b479f-3abd-49fc-b149-e92f548b0048.jpg\" alt=\"null\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will both attend the ceremony<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Charlotte&#8217;s godparents will be announced ahead of the service.<\/p>\n<p>Other guests will include the Duke of Edinburgh, Duchess of Cornwall and Catherine&#8217;s two siblings &#8211; Pippa and James Middleton.<\/p>\n<p>Like her brother, Charlotte will be christened in a replica of the lace and satin christening gown made for Queen Victoria&#8217;s eldest daughter, Victoria, the princess royal, in 1841.<\/p>\n<p>She will be christened using the ornate silver gilt Lily Font which is usually on show as part of the crown jewels at the Tower of London.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape full-width has-caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/1257\/production\/_84059640_4d0b3bc2-9762-4687-824d-4b9a65337315.jpg\" alt=\"null\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">St Mary Magdalene also hosts the royals on Christmas Day<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Norfolk police are expecting large crowds near the 16th century church and have urged people to arrive early for the opening of the paddock gates at 15:00 BST. The ceremony is due to start at 16:30.<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent Kevin Clarke said: &#8220;With this being such a special occasion we are expecting the area to be extremely busy on Sunday and encourage the public to heed our advice so they can enjoy the event safely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Hugely grateful&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anyone bringing flowers will be asked to give them to representatives of East Anglia&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Hospices, where Catherine is a patron, who will then take them to hospices in the region.<\/p>\n<p>A Kensington Palace spokesman said: &#8220;The duke and duchess are hugely grateful for the warm wishes they have received since Princess Charlotte&#8217;s birth &#8211; many of them from local people in Norfolk &#8211; and are delighted the paddock can be opened on the day of the christening.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape full-width has-caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/6077\/production\/_84059642_238330ff-0fbf-4497-b559-79b19247016e.jpg\" alt=\"null\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">Princess Diana was baptised in the church in 1961<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"media-landscape full-width has-caption\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" src=\"http:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/6852\/production\/_84060762_f4046371-9c67-4092-8637-0ccf43c1a93e.jpg\" alt=\"null\" width=\"624\" height=\"351\" \/><figcaption class=\"media-caption\"><span class=\"media-caption__text\">The Lily Font, left, is normally kept as part the crown jewels<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Prince Harry will be among those missing from the ceremony. He is currently spending three months in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>St Mary Magdalene is the church used by the Queen when she is resident on her private estate.<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Welby will give an address.
