<\/p>\nGhanaians seeking care at various healthcare facilities are paying extra for utility bills in\u00a0public health facilities.<\/p>\n
Per the directive issued\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira\u00a0on May 12, 2015, public hospitals will charge GH\u00a25 and health centres GH\u00a22.<\/p>\n
This according to the letter is a \u201ccost sharing of hospital utilities with out-patient clients and those on admission.\u201d<\/p>\n

Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 checks at some health facilities in the Western Region indicated that the directive has already taken effect<\/p>\n At the Takoradi Government hospital, there were notices pasted at various locations which read: \u201cDear client, with effect from 1st June 2015, you are required to pay utility fee of GH5 per daily admission\/OPD attendance and receipt shown at the various service points.\u201d<\/p>\n The move Citi News<\/strong> can confirm has sparked some discomfort for those seeking care in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis.<\/p>\n Patients in the Upper East region kicked against a similar directive<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to health facilities in the region.<\/p>\n
